How to Pick Lash Curls and Fan Size (Without Guessing)

A predictable framework beats trend-chasing. Use curl and fan size choices that match anatomy, goal, and lash health.

Curl framework

  • Natural lash direction: stronger correction may need stronger curls in select zones.
  • Lid/eye shape: visibility needs vary for hooded/deep-set eyes.
  • Style goal: natural, open-eye, wispy, or glam each need different transitions.

Fan size framework

We use one diameter across the board — the variable is fan size. Adjusting the number of lashes per fan is how you protect natural lash health while still building the look your client wants.

  • Weaker natural lashes: use smaller fans with fewer lashes to keep the weight safe and prevent premature shedding.
  • Stronger natural lashes: these can handle bigger fans with more lashes for added density and drama.
  • Always assess each individual natural lash before placing — strength varies across the lash line.

Common mistakes

  1. Over-lengthening to force drama instead of adjusting fan size.
  2. Using the same fan size across every zone without assessing natural lash strength.
  3. Ignoring asymmetry and natural growth direction.
