3 best questions to ask when mapping your clients

Mapping is the art of styling eyelash extensions to perfectly flatter each client's unique features, face shape, eye shape and desires. It is the one thing that transforms a lash technician into a true lash artist. We must take into consideration 4 key things when mapping Distance from inner corner to inner corner (width between eyes)

Depth of the eyes

Shape of the eyes

Lid Types

The client's preference For more, see our guide on lash retention troubleshooting checklist.

After inviting your client into your space, first have them fill out your consent and liability forms. If you don't have these, we have them available and done for you on the website shop! After discussing any medical contraindications and past lash experiences, talk about their desires.

THREE BEST QUESTIONS TO ASK

Explore our full range of lash extensions →

Q: "Have you had lash extensions before?"

A: If Yes, talk about what they liked about them and what they would want to change this time around. If they have not had lashes before, talk about the basics. How they feel, what they can expect during the service, how long it will take, what maintenance looks like and what mapping means. For more, see our guide on lash mapping for hooded eyes.

Q: "Do you have an inspo picture from my portfolio I can see?"

A: When they show you pics they like of your work, determine whether that is a look you can achieve and will work well for their lashes / eye shape or if you'll need to modify it to suit them. For example, if they want a cat eye but they have downturned hooded eyes, talk about how you can create a look with a similar flick, but in a kitten shape.

If they wear a wispy strip lash, you'll know you want to add texture to any look you do. NEXT- MAPPING!
